28th course on International Humanitarian Law
Warsaw, Poland, 28 June – 8 July 2010

As part of a joint endeavour to promote respect for international humanitarian law (IHL), the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the Polish Red Cross are pleased to announce the 28th edition of the Warsaw Course on IHL. This annual event is part of a broader partnership between the ICRC and National Red Cross Societies of Europe and North America, aimed at improving knowledge of the law among key civil society audiences.
The Warsaw Course offers an in-depth introduction to IHL. It is open to graduate students with a background in public international law, as well as to humanitarian professionals and legal practitioners that work on IHL-related issues. The course features internationally renowned experts, including academics, legal practitioners from international courts and tribunals, and ICRC legal advisers, delivering lectures on various facets of the law. Participants are required to participate in group discussions that focus on the legal challenges of contemporary armed conflicts, and to work through case studies designed help them understand how the law is applied in practice.
Cost
The course costs 600 euros, which includes course materials, accommodation and meals.
